Population Report (2002) – healthy spacing is best when children are 3-5 years apart.

  * 1.5 times more likely to survive the first week.

  * 2.2 times more likely to survive the first

             28 days of life.

  * 2.3 times more likely to survive the first year of      life.

  * 2.4 times more likely to survive to age 5.
